Design, Manufacture & RetailingWe started trading in 1994 making us the oldest and most succesful mail-order business selling fully-fashioned stockings and similar products from the UK. We employ staff both directly and indirectly whose livelihoods depend on our continued trade. Touchable designs lingerie in-house and our capability in manufacture helps us and other businesses to offer unique garments.
We offer a Web site and a paper catalogue. Some people visit the site or obtain the catalogue with no intention of buying. Although that means a monetary loss we have some interesting facts which may show how well Touchable is thought of. Touchable is a trading name and as such is registered with the UK Inland Revenue and Customs & Excise. We are also registered with the UK Data Protection Registrar. A simple method of testing a businesses reliability is asking a few questions? - Are they Data Protection registered? This is explained below.

WHY ARE CONTACT DETAILS IMPORTANT?You should know who you are dealing with if spending money. How many times have you risked buying products or services from a site with no contact information other than an email address? It makes sense to know how to contact that trader through more solid information. We show our contact details on the Internet and our full conditions of trading.WHAT USE ARE TERMS AND CONDITIONS? Any business must legally supply its trading conditions as well as contact details. You can read exactly how you will be dealt with as a customer. Our terms do not affect you statutory rights. WHAT IS DATA PROTECTION? Touchable is registered with the UK Data Protection Registrar, Registration No. Z568209X. It is criminal offence punishable by imprisonment and fines to use electronic data retrieval of information regarding other people without being registered. We do not sell, loan or distribute your persoanl data. DO YOU USE A SECURE SERVER?Yes, we operate a 'Secure Server' for your credit card details. in the same way as many other businesses on-line. We use both ISP and local firewalls to prevent unauthorised access to any data.
The use of a secure server is only part of our security system. Our database cannot be accessed through a phone line. We do not keep your details on-line within a network.
'What do you do with my details after processesing?'. At Touchable card details are not kept on-line. We do not network such criminally useful information although we are legally registered to do so.

Our database is worth a lot of money. We could sell it many times over. We chose not to do so as it would be commercially damaging, but more importantly customers trust us and we have no intention of subjecting you to the irritating and sometimes offensive literature of other traders coming through your mail-box. WHY DO WE CHARGE FOR SHIPPING?When a business says there is no shipping or mailing charge we have to ask 'Who is paying for it then?'. The truth is you are paying for shipping whether it is inclusive or exclusive to the product price. Customers pay for every aspect of a business and suggesting otherwise is totally misleading. WHAT ARE OUR INTENTIONS? Touchable is a commercial business. The intention is to offer quality products as a unique collection. We primarily make money to survive and grow. The larger we grow the longer we can hold off price increases by reducing profit margins. We secondly employee staff and they need to be paid. Thirdly we feel that information about our products is as important as the product itself. If you decide to consider a product from another supplier we have supplied unbiased information which will allow you to make a more informed choice. |
